Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
My car was parked in a box on a red route in N17. There are images which show my vehicle and the registration number. The date of contravention was 3/8/08.
Nevertheless, I wish to follow the process offered, and book a time to view the video footage myself, as the vehicle may have been broken down and awaiting collection from a recovery company.
I got back in touch with them within two weeks of the date of issue. They out me on a database but failed to get back in touch with me with an appointment.
In the meantime, I received correspondence from the courts, threatening bailiffs if payment was not made. I wrote back, letting them know that I was awaiting further correspondence from the council concerned. They duly responded cancelling the threat of court action.
So back to the original pcn. I was still awaiting a response from them regarding an appointment and assumed that they had forgotten.
Today, I received a re-issue of the PCN dated 12th December 2008 for the original offence of 3rd August 2008 - over 4 months ago.
Is this correct? It seems like they are cheating by re-issuing the ticket after messing up first time around.
Surely there must be a time limit that is applicable to the issuing of PCNs?
Any information on a statute (in part) which relates to a specific time limit or any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated.
