Thread: any bank accounts out there for poor credit rating??

Ive been with alliance and leicester for over ten years but i would like to claim back my charges from them asap as they come close to the £5000 mark.

I have read that they will shut my account if i win so i tried to open a new account with Abbey so i wouls still have a bank account to get paid in etc if alliance closed my account (just a basic acc, no overdraft) and i got turned down for adverse credit rating.

Note that the defaults on two other accounts that caused this are ones that have been caused by HUGE charges and i am fighting to get them removed!!

Just wondered if anyone knows of a bank that will open up any type of basic account for someone with adverse credit?? The lady in Abbey didnt think so but surely you lot can be more help......?

Hi! I opened a Natwest step account last week, just got confirmation this morning.

Just go down to your local branch. You will need two pieces of I.D. with your name and address on. One will need to be photo I.D. A driving license or passport for example.

Ive had a student account that got defaulted with Natwest so i'm not sure if they'll open one for me but i will go to a few banks and see if anyone is willing!thanks everyone

The Nationwide flex account is a good account ive got a joint account done it online but would advise going into the local branch much quicker plus card gives you best rate abroad from the hole in the wall 0%.

manahed to open a new step account with Natwest. Im at the stage now with alliance in the claiming process where they've put in a defence. They sent me an offer as soon as i started the claim for £500 (my whole claim is £2000) so i rejected. They put in defence and now im waiting for an allocation questionnaire (or an offer!)...this is definitely the worst bit...just waiting...grrrr

Is anyone at a similar stage or won recently i've had a look at the treads and there seems to be no consistency about when they give you a full offer...anyone out there to give me a bit of hope that it'll be soon??

Yes Nationwide Flex account I would recommend, I got adverse credit CCJ, all they require is ID, they do not do a credit search. They give you a bank card and you can still do Direct Debits & Standing Orders. You can transfer online and also get a cheque from the branch to pay someone which is free of charge.
