Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have been issued a strange parking offence ticket, from a McDonalds which makes no sense to me. It states that;
'The parking charge notice was issued because the vehicle was allegedly involved in the following parking contravention: The vehicle returned during the 'No Return' period at 190-McDonalds Drive Thru-Stansted'.
It has photos of my car entering and exiting the car park with a minimum return period of 90 minutes, and states my actual period of return was 16 minutes.
Why would I be punished for entering a McDonalds, then re-entering it 16 minutes later ?????
Is this a valid offence/fine. It sounds fake to me, or at least unlawful and audacious. Should I just ignore the fine ? Has anyone any experience of this company called 'MET Parking Services' ?

Thanks,
total [problem] what you have got is a invoice from a private parking company employed by mc.donnells to run the car park.all total boll*cks.best to just ignore all letters you will get many letters from them and debt colletors threatening all kinds of thing ccj.s baliffs etc.i no ive had plenty and not paid one of them.they.ll go away after awhile when they no you are not conned by there [problem].pm sent
Perhaps you should also write a nasty letter to McDonalds head office, with a copy to the local Manager.
State that as you should not have been there a second time, according to "THEIR APPOINTED CONTRACTORS", your money was taken by McDonalds under false pretences.
As said, it's a [problem], don't give this parking invoice any credibility by calling it a fine, ignore all that you receive
You will receive further letters, some from a debt collection agency (Shaz on the next desk) with scary red writing and even terrifying chequered borders
Yes, again thanks for the replies. Good point 'Sameagle', technically they should of refused my custom seeing as I was breaking their parking policies by even attending the place, I will write a scathing letter to McDonalds head office.
I rang up the Stansted McDonalds branch to ask them why they see it fit to punish good honest customers, but their only reply is a bog standard 'It's not our fault, you have to take it up with MET Parking Services' which made me furious. They employ MET so surely they are answerable to the insulting invoices they send out.
dont even dignify it with a response. IF you write to them they will think you are worried about it and pursue you harder.
Ignore them and they will go away.

They wrongly state that "The owner/hirer/keeper" is responsible for paying the charge, that's total crap, only the driver could be held responsible under contract law as he would be the only person to read the signs
They also ask for a parking charge, the only evidence they have is of your car exiting and re-entering the car park, that's not parking, that's driving through
IF they ever took it to county court with that paperwork they would be on a hiding to nothing, it will never see court
As advised earlier, ignore all letters, in time they will go away
Isn't there a legal issue about the use of MET by a PPC and the Met Police????
