Cool South Yourkshire Police Fixed Penalty Notice

Hi Im new here so Ill start with Hello, I was running late for my dauters school play today the 9th dec 2008 now all the parking spaces had gone and only place to park was on the zig zag line at the opposite side of the school, I thought it wouldnt cause any problems i.e kids cant see when crossing as i would be gone before the school kicked out, now I was not the only one there on them either, when i came out after 20 mins there was a ticket on my windscreen, but they have entered the wrong date they actually put 8th Dec 08 just woundered if it makes the ticket invalid, and what to do if it does. Cheers in advance.

Although the Fixed Penalty will fall as incorrect, that means the police can either correct it and send it again or issue a summons within 6 months of the offence
If they choose to issue the summons it will cost more -

Personally I would pay the FPN

20 mins on zig zag lines? That isn't good. They're there for a reason (I'll resist the urge to rant about the mums who park on the school zig zags and bus stop across the road from my work and nearly crash into me every time try to exit)

It easier to get off on technicalities with council PCNs, but it's a different ball game with the police, FPNs and Magistrates Court.

Presumably, these are the yellow zig-zag lines, like those painted outside many schools.

In which case, check the TRO Many Councils simply painted the lines without bothering with the expense of the supporting TRO - in which case the FPN is unenforceable.

I also presume that the FPN was issued for parking on the zig-zags and not obstruction. If it was obstruction, no TRO is necessary anywhere.

Even without a valid TRO, you'd have to argue in front of a magistrate who may well decide the fine stands anyway.

    Apologies A|27 - I must disagree....
a magistrate cannot enforce a law that does not exist - if no TRO then unless you have been booked for obstruction and not for parking on zigzags then the magistrate cannot impose a fine. Without the TRO the zigzags are just paint.
