I am tackling Barclaycard on behalf of my husband, earlier in the year I had issues with AIC and Intrum Justitia that he knew nothing about, when all was revealed he owned up (so much better to work with your partner) to having trouble with his Barclaycard and I explained all about CAG and the help that was available. When I got hold of his latest statements it turned out that although he was paying £50 per month it was having no impact on the balance. He is paying late payment fees, over credit limit and also Payment protection.Requested SAR - received statements but no credit agreement, have requested repayment of late payment fees and over credit limit fees.Have also today asked for CCA, to see if he can reclaim Payment Protection. He has no recollection of asking for it.I have also noticed on the statements that once a year- in our case July they add on a charge for Barclaycard Protection this is extra to the monthly fee, it started in 2004 @ £16 .00 but the latest is £35.00 what is this and will I be able to reclaim it do you think? Thanks in advance for any help.Regards ML

I've no idea what it is but if he didn't sign up for it (and Barclaycard certainly won't be able to prove that he did sign up for it) then it's certainly reclaimable.
Oh Jolly Good!!If we can get the charges back it will take him under the credit limit and stop the charges mounting up. If PPI can be reclaimed it should almost wipe it out YAY!!Will keep you posted as to result of CCA request are they not good at supplying them?
I'm not 100% certain, but I think you will find that 'Barclaycard Protection' is some kind of insurance against loss or theft of your credit and debit cards, although I don't know exactly how you would benefit from it.
My wife took out something similar (CCP) some years ago and they just keep renewing the cover automatically, year after year.
Of course, as the cost is added to your balance, you pay interest on it as well.
Hi MandyLou - glad to see you have your own thread here.
I'd keep the charges separate form the PPI and the annual protection stuff.
As you've asked no Q's about it, I assume you're OK doing your speadsheet/SOC. Shout if you want any help though. BC are repaying quite quickly but expect a couple of bluffs from them first.
Start a thread in the PPI forum to d/w the PPI.
As regards the annual protection, I suggest you either d/w this along with the PPI or tackle it as a separate issue through Cust'r Svs.
On both issues, argue that you didn't want them, didn't realise you were paying them and don't recall ever asking for them them. Accordingly, you want these monies refunded in full.
Add up the totals from the statements and specify what you require to be repaid.

I sent SAR to BC and they only came back with statements (from late 2002 microfiche>>date) they said they had no other information about me. I'm guessing they don't have CCA or telephone transcripts.
I have claimed fees, of which they refunded the difference the day after receipt so are exceptionally quick, although am now waiting on response to my rejection.
My account included Payment Protection (which they are now calling Optional Protection) and F.A.P. which I believe was missold over the phone, so will go for them next which I'm hoping will be easy IF they don't have the information they say.
Good luck with your claim

Charges reclaimed:
Barclaycard £800 + 8% - Full refund
MBNA £780 (incl. 8%) - full refund
Thanks cbd13, have not heard back yet about prelim ( they have until the 17th) so am just a wee bit behind you! I will be following your thread closely as it seems to be very similar to my case. I am also waiting for CCA request to be aknowledged as they only sent me statements. Have you started a thread in PPI reclaim section that I can crib from??!Good Luck to you as well!Kind regards ML
Well as you predicted slick, I have had the first offer/goodwill gesture! £96 as difference between £12 and £20, claim was for £540 with no interest added. I assume I now send a template rejection letter to ask for the rest? Do I add interest yet? Greatful for any advice.Have not yet recieved CCA so have not started on PPI yet. Thanks ML

Thanks Slick! Will crack on with appropriate letters today. On the lba letter supplied by Bookworm it adds interest, I used the basic SOC (sent without the interest column) so how do I now calculate the interest they owe? or do I just ask for the £540 in this letter? Probably won't get much joy this side of Xmas but will be nice if we can clear it up for the New Year!
Kind Regards ML.

Hello All! Hope everyone had a good Xmas and New Year!I have now received my charges + 8% from Barclaycard and am happy with that as it cuts the balance in half, (they have also reduced credit limit but am not too bothered as I just want to get it paid off) they have not however supplied the requested CCA so I am assuming it doesn't exsist and I can press on with PPI claim, would appreciate some advice as to my next step as the world of PPI reclaim is all new to me.Thanx in anticipation1 Kind regards ML
