Default RCI Finance - please can anyone help me?

In 2005 I bought a car on renault finance and made my monthly payments with no trouble.

I had a bubble payment due i thought in September 2007 for £2300 which i managed to save up. In June 2007 my grandad was taken seriously ill and i gave up my savings to help the family pay to have him flown home by ambulance to die in the UK i contacted Renault who told me it wasn't a problem my last monthly DD was due in October and i could pay the balance anytime as long as it was before September 2008 and in any case i'd be written to to be offered a trade in or to re-finance the outstanding amount I updated my contact details as i had moved house.

In June 2008 i lost my job, eventually getting a temp position for a lot less money and entered a dmpicon with all my debts with CCCS - I wrote to Renault Finance and explained the same...suddenly letters start being sent to my parents address (the address my brother, who bought a car the same day on renult finance lives at) defaulting the account - usual practice on a dmpicon from a company called RCI (my Finance agreement was with RFI apparently they changed company - nice to let me know!). I called them and explained the situation and was told they would make a note on the account - i changed the contact details..

CCCS said the car could not be added to the DMP but in the meantime of sorting that all out i got a letter, again to my parents address telling me I had 7 days to return the car..I called, Changing the contact address again and explained again the situation and said that i would like to arrange a payment scheme for the balance - i was told that couldn't be done, that i was over a year late for the bubble payment and they had passed the letter on to their solicitors and i should wait for a letter from them, contact the solicitor and arrange a payment plan with the solicitor.

Today a letter was sent to my parents address addressed to me using my nickname (!) telling me i have 7 days to return the car or pay the remainder!

what should i do? I don't have the original document (i know!) so i took their word for it went they gave me the settlement date, They said i would be offered to trade the car in or refinance the remainder at the end of my term and that never happend either which is why i went with the Set 2008 date. its not i don't want to pay it everyone i have spoken to at RCI has said not to "wait for the next department to contact you" I can't hand the car back as i need it for my second job and i don't want to risk a CCJ as I work in finance and that will lose me my Job!

Help me please i don't know what to do

I wrote to them asking for a CCA and complaining about everything, i sent a £51 cheque, £1 for the CCA and £50 good will - which they cashed but i heard nothing, so i wrote the second 12+2 day letter.

I don't know what to do now.

I got a letter (well not officially) sent to my old address under my nickname which arrived on saturday from the finance companies solicitor. Thanking me for my letter, acknowledging the £51.00 and saying my CCA has been ordered and my account is being looked into.

    1) should i acknowledge receipt of this letter as i have told them over the phone and in writting countless numbers of times i don't live there any more! The letter sent with the cheque was addressed from my new home and i mentioned the issue in the letter and STILL they ignore it.

    2) they didn't respond to my first letter sent with the cheque - this letter was sent after the second one (12+2 days) - so is this an acceptable response?

    3) surely seeing as in October they want to apply to court to get the car repossessed the solicitor that wrote that wonderful letter would have the CCA to complete the paper work

    What does everyone think?
