I got a pcna couple of days ago for not buying a ticket in a pay and display car park at a university - £50 within 28 days or £25 within 14 days.
I was going to contest it becuase there were no signs or pay and display machines within sight of the car (you had to go around the corner).
But when I looked at the ticket I realised they had the reg number wrong by one number (a 6 instead of a 5), but they have posted photos of the car online and the real reg number is very clear. Surely when they realise that the reg number on the ticket doesn't exist (I have checked on mycarcheck.com), they will be able to look at the photo and correct it.
I have read that a wrong reg number makes the ticket invalid, but is this really the case? Even if it's just a typo, and there's a photo?
Not sure which of these defences to go with - the last thing I want to do is end up paying £50...
What do you think?
Thanks in advance, Ila
