I have just received a parking ticket a little unfairly. However the Warden made two vital mistakes:
1. He wrote the wrong number plate i.e. WJ07 XYZ instead of WJ05 XYZ
2. For the model of car her wrote Zetec instead of C-Max.
However he did write down the correct road fund (tax disc) number.
What should I do? I think I could get away with doing nothing as the basic details are wrong on the ticket; but should I be a little more proactive and get in touch with the local council/company to let them know the mistakes and the fact that I am not paying?
Also from my little research on the subject since I got the ticket a couple of hours ago the warden wasn't wearing a hat and handed me the ticket, does this make any differnce?
If that is your correct reg number, then edit it out, as you are giving your name and address away.
Who is this ticket from, is it a PPC or one from the Council/Police?
How do you mean 'a little unfairly'?
Sounds like the guy isn't properly trained.
Who is the ticket issued by/on behalf of?
Where do you have to send the dosh to?
Sorry for the interrogation.
1. It is a made up reg number, I used it to illustrate the point.
2. The company is Town and City Parking, it is them I have to send the cash to.
3. Unfairly - he wrote the alleged time of the 'offence' at 1245, when clearly we were arguing with the bloke at 1240. (I stopped arguing when I noticed he had written the wrong reg and car model on the ticket)
Keep your details and notes. As you were "we" you have a witness to support your statement if ever it came to a fight - but it won't.
All they can get from DVLA is a Registered Keeper from the registration number they are asked about - the one on their 'ticket'. I have never heard of tracing through the the Tax Disc number.
I say, do nothing. Certainly I wouldn't respond appealing/complaining - that tells them who and where you are. They will then pester you for money with menaces.
Igore it totally it's a joke . . . you wont hear from it and if you do its easy to get out of . . . come on here for advice if you hear and you'll be looked after . . . and tonyp is very right never contact them . . the onus is on them to find you and prove their case . . contacting them would be a big mistake as it would fuel their pursuit of you . . . put it in drawer and forget about it for now - you prob wont hear back - let us know if you do . . dont act in haste, and dont talk on the phone about it if they ring, hang up straight away, making them write to you . . people and companies dont risk lies on paper - so its the best method - they record calls and you dont
It's a pity not more people know about the [problem]mers - in my innocence I never thought that there was anything that could not be legal - never came across clampers - but then I'm not in the city much. I'm just fortunate I found this site sooner rather than later. I did complain and so I'm traceable and live 'a few doors down' from the debt collectors. If you haven't written, don't.
We could do with a National Newspaper going at this one - or have they done so already?
Thanks for all your help. Rereading my entry I have inadvertantly got some people onto the wrong thread- when we returned to the car at 1240 we were 6 mins over time on the ticket (due to three kids and overloaded with shopping), but the warden had already written 1245 on the ticket.
My point really is with them puting the incorrect number plate on the ticket and wrong model of car (Zetec isn't a model, its the trim level. it could be a Zetec C-Max, Zetec Modeo, Zetec Galaxy etc etc).

Given the information people have given you that has got to be the wierdest 'My point really is' I have ever read !!!! Have you taken any of the info in at all?

Here's an example (Real life one - actually happened) of how to deal with this kind of ticket . . . Wasn't me of course
Got back to car, noticed abomination in question on windscreen, read what it said (curiosity) - without touching it (fingerprints, DNA etc.) . . removed it from windscreen - 'accidentally' dropped it on floor - bad back prevented picking it up . . so drove off and had good day.
Never heard from it - ever !

I have taken on board what people have said. I am just ensuring that people don't go down the lines that it was a [problem]; I don't think it is a [problem], as we were late. The time issue (1240/1245) could easily be explained by the difference in the wardens watch and mine (my watch is correct, I checked it against Radio 4 today to be sure!). The [problem] line seems to be the line people were going along as well as the useful advice with regards as to what to do. I merely want to ensure I get advice on the information he wrote down and the validity of the ticket.
Were not suggesting its a [problem] . . . if your timings and facts are right then its not . . . and they're probably right !
But you need to remember that these people cant get proper jobs coz theyre the dumbest people on earth, and probably havent got the savy or intelligence enough to pursue it . . .
The point is, they wont pursue it 98% chance . . .

Please please stop being rude as it is obstructive and really unnecessary. As I mentioned in my replies to you I have listened and hoisted in the message. A number of people have said that users on this site are friendly and helpful. Frankly you are not living up to this reputation.
