Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
My story so far: I recently swapped banks from First Direct to A&L for the high interest savings account (you need an A&L current a/c to get the full 10% savings). Unfortunately my payroll send my wages to the old a/c, meaning the DDS and SOs I'd moved bounced as they took me over my overdraught limit. Despite me phoning A&L and explaining, I got hit with over £300 in charges. My first letter went out a few weeks ago. I've recieved the standard "We're looking into it" and "Sorry you're disappointed but sod off" letters, so I'm about to send off the final warning letter and check out MCOL.... wish me luck.
Very best of luck to you. I thought they were supposed to take care of things like moving s/o etc when you change a/c anyway-typical!!!

When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to of happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI insurance has been sorted now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.

To be fair to A&L, it was the company handling my payroll that screwed up in the first place putting my wages in my old a/c. A&L had moved all my payments over, but all the payments coming at the start of the month made the account go overdrawn, so the bank bounced them all back and charged me £34 a time to do it. This was despite me phoning the bank to explain the situation and shifting my money as quickly as I could (the guy on the phone mumbled stuff about chaps payments or cash, But there wasn't much I could do on a Friday night, which is when I first discovered the mistake and phoned, with the 1st of the month being the next day). Not the best way to start a relationship, is it?
