Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
hi,
We bought our car through first response finance...we never missied a payment until last month, we called and explained that with xmas etc and our current financial situation that we couldnt make the payment..(we have already had previous past 3mths reduced payment) .They have said they want to take the car back....our situation is improving a little and we can make this months payment but they said they are terminating our agreement and going to repossess the car...i have read the t&c's and we havent paid enough for them not to take car back....
is their anything we can do???
many thanks,
alison...x
Nothing really, if you have paid less than a third they can repossess at any time, but usually give you notice; but only if its on the public highway, so they cant take out of your garage without your permission or a court order. If you have more paid than a third they will need a court order to repossess.
Probably best to let it go, in the long term.
You shouldn't have mentioned Christmas, that tells them you want to use the money for a non essential celebration.
