Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
There are some guidelines - see OFGEM website.
Much depends also on your meter-ie if its pre payment etc.
Some offer lower repayments of the minimum £5 for arrears to £3.
Good idea to have a look at a comparison site like mse.
There are links there to check the websites of those offering deals.

Actually, the whole social tarriff scheme is a big [problem] (well at least as far as my company, Southern Electric is concerned).
Their rule is simple:If you are on a means tested benefit and spend more than 10% of your income on fuel and you qualify for the social tariff. I spend just over 10% of mine, so I applied.
However, what they dont say is that the 10% refers to total income, including any housing benefit you might get. So, according to them, I don't qualify
Suppose, though, that you live in a house and you have finished paying your mortgage - therefore no housing benefit, but possibly the same amount of disposable income, spend 10% on fuel, then you would qualify.
Effectively this means that the vast majority of those who need the tarriff can't get it!!
