Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Despite registering 2 years ago I have never actively used this website, and had to send for my user name and password again this morning. I came here looking for help for my brother's debt problem (trying to help him), and it has taken half an hour to actually find this welcome bit that when I logged in I was recommended to vist.
I am struggling navigating around the site, and when I click on site mapI get a white page with the word 'hello' in the top left corner. (Not much help!)
Basically he has huge debt, no assets, no regular income, and has stuck his head in the sand ignoring the numerous letters/phone calls he receives. He has no idea who he owes what to - letters for the same debt have come from numerous agencies. I woudl like advice on whether to tell him to go down the bankruptcy route or contacting companies (though goodness knows which!) Could someone please tell me which bit of the site I need to go to to find this advice, and how to get there?! Sorry to be so dumb!
Welcome back. The iste has really grown since you were last here, so you will find it a bit more difficult to get about. Have a good look around the FAQ's again.
I have left you some links below to help you. The A-Z one below, created by Michael Brown, is a really good link, everything is there.

Hi EP & welcome to CAG.It is a little bewildering at first - and you will notice there are actually two forums! If you click on the "debt action group" then choose a suitable sub-section to start your thread (e.g if the debts are with Barclays,Lloyds TSB, etc) then you will get advice from someone who has experienced similar problems.HTH
Thank you so much, both of you. Thank you for Michael's list, uk, which I shall begin on now. I think my favourites button is about to get some hammer!
