ppi and Distance selling regulations advice please
Hi there,
I have been watching this Forum and find now that I need a little advice about, yes Black Horse.
I bought a holiday Caravan through them on finance HP. A couple of weeks later I got a call from a young lady asking if I wanted any PPI cover. I said no thanks I am quite happy as I am.
A couple of Mondays ago I got another call from a guy who asked the same. I said ring me Saturday which he did. At no time did I discuss taking the policy which was to come from Pinnacle.
He rang Saturday and I told him that I was interested as on reflection I had to take my age into account. We agreed over the phone and I said that if I decided not to go ahead the distance selling rules would apply. He confirmed this.
I have not had any paperwork and now wish not to go ahead in part because of what I read here and other sites like it. Tomorrow four working days would have past so I hope that I have plenty of time to cancel. How do I do it is my question as I dont want to run around in circles and would ratrher use a solicitor if need be.
Thanks in advance.
Re: ppi and Distance selling regulations advice please
Why on earth would you want to use a solicitor to cancel an insurance policy?
FSA regulations give you a cancellation period of 30 days on all PPI policies. Simply write to Black Horse giving your instruction to cancel (send it recorded delivery).
Assuming the PPI payment is a separate payment, keep an eye out on your bank account for any new direct debits being set up.
Re: ppi and Distance selling regulations advice please
Hello Ron,
Already done. Rang the accounts this morning and also posted a letter to be absolutely correct. After reading some of the probs on here I got a bit jumpy.
Will certainly keep an eye on my accounts for a month or two. Was only 19 quid a month but the cover was rubbish when I thought about it. Price you pay for getting older I suppose.
Thanks for your reply.
