Unhappy Used car 3 weeks later head gasket blown

Hi all I hope you can help.

I bought a new car last month, car being a Mitsubishi Galant 2.5 V6 Automatic, the car had one owner andfull service history with 92k miles on the clock.

When I seen and test drove the car it was perfect as it was like new considering it was 8 years old.

Now 3 weeks into driving the car I was driving home and lost power, also heard loud tapping noise to which point i decided to pull over, as i pulled over the car stalled (and its an automatic??)

I got the car home via the AA, where they looked at it too and seen lots of oil in the engine bay.
I called the Trader I bought it from, told him what had happened and as he was quite far from me we decided id get it to a local garage where the diagnostics would take place.

After the diagnosis has taken place I was told it was the head gasket and that this would cost £950 + VAT.

I have spoken to the trader i bought the car from, and he has spoken to this garage to get the information on the fault. He then called his garage he uses to get a quote. The prices were then similar due to the amount of work needed to be undertaken.

Can some one now please help me with my options or how im covered.
He called me today and offered to "pay 50% of the repairs", I simply can not afford this especially after purchasing the car no more than 4 weeks ago now and also with christmas coming up.
I bought the car with no added warrenty.

Any help will be much apprciated

Now, if you will accept a repair the dealer must do it at his total cost under SOGAicon, or you can reject the car as unfit and faulty and get a full refund.
once you have made up your mind you need to put this in writting, no more phone callsicon, with all the details and time line etc. or you will take him to court.
