Hi,
I have had a bank loan since 2004 and renews it several times always having PPI on it apart from when i renewed last year and the RBS made me take a Life Assurance policy out. Would I be entitled to claim bank the PPI from when the loan started to the last time I renewed last year??
I already have a SAR request ready to go to the bank, but aint got a clue about what steps I need to take if I can claim the money back......any help/ideas are gratefully appreciated.
Thank you
They can't do this - I mean did they ask if you have a life policy elsewhere?
When you say renewed do you mean rescheduled - if they told you you had to have PPI as a condition of getting the loan then is has been missold. If they failed to ask if you had any other life assurance policies that may cover your debt payments then it was missold. If it was rescheduled then you can claim it all back but be careful to factor in any rebates you got when the loan was rescheduled
If you can keep you head when all of those around you are losing theirs try parking your helicopter somewhere else
You have to clear on why it has been missold in the first place. Have a read through the stickies at the start of this section
The first stage is to make a complaint to you bank outlining why you have been missold the PPI and asking them to refund it to you. There are spreadsheets to help you calculate how much
This can take a long time (they are supposed to give you a response within 8 weeks) and your bank is most likely going to say no we haven't done anything wrong - even when they pay up they call it a goodwill gesture and still deny any liability
At this point you can decide whether to take them to court or put a complaint into the fos
