Hi All, Ive just started my mission against Barclays (another thread) buty i remembered i had an Abbey Account & Credit Card. The problem is i dont have any record of account numbers ( had a major shreding blitz a year ago). Will they give my mey DPA details without the accoutn numbers? Thank
Yes they will, just send the DPA SAR with a list of all previous addresses used while with them and enclose a photocopy of proof of identification such as a birth certificate or driving licence.
BEFORE starting your claim read through the FAQ's and if there's something you aren't sure of then ask.

For my DPA SAR Request, what is the best way to send it? I was thinkong of normal mail and gettign proof of postage? Also Is the 40day time form the date on my letter? Thx

Recieved Acknowledgment Today From Rachel Claridge 'Customer Advocate Office Manager.
Letter basically says i will recieve a response within 28 days and copy of their complaint procedure and if i wish to contact them in the mean time call Gareth Tunnicliffe on 01244 672628.
A Quickish response i thought as i didnt have my account as it was closed years ago and ive moved house too.
Luckily for them their 28 days is within the 40day limit.
Got the standard microfiche letter back from Abbey today. As my account has been closed a few years all the info is apparently on microfiche. I am sending the standard letter back to them, but i'm unsure of the date to put in the following section:
"My request was for a complete list of transactions and charges relating to my account since xx/xx/xx"
Do i put six years from todays date ie 01/08/2000 or do i state that i want all details since my account was opened (i dont know that date!) Thanks
I was going to fax a copy of my microfiche letter reply, but ive left the letter at home with the fax number on, Has anyone got it?
Also the microfiche letter asks me about using the £10 for the statements and to call them if you dont want that to happen. I got letter yesterday and the cheque cleared my account today - They dont give you chance to stop it. Anyone know my postion on this, as they have used a cheque for not what is was meant for.
Thanks in advance

Abbey: SETTLED IN FULL BoS M/card SETTLED 27/09 Aqua CC (Halifax) SETTLED 28/06 GMAC Request for refund 14/6; Prelim 31/7; LBA 11/9 First National Mortgage Data Protection Act sent 14/6 Statements 26/7 Cap 1 - SETTLED IN FULL Abbey x 2: 50% offer refused AQ filed
Do i need to write and tell them that as there letter said they were going to use the £10 for statements instead.
Will it look better for any court docs i might need in the future. ie they could say to the courts we wrote and explained that he (me) did not disagree otherwise.
I was thinking a letter along the lines of:
I paid £10 for DPA SAR request, You have cashed cheque so give me DPA info. You stated that you was going to use for statements, i have not agreed to that. etc etc
Just dont want to get caught in a loophole
Thanks
It was a transaction listing, gave me everything on my account, just not the balances.
The funny thing is that i got 2 letters from Abbey; 1 from Pam Speed saying data is on microfiche and not covered by DPA and therefore cant give me info; and another letter from a business manager saying heres all your transcations and to call if i need further help.
Do people talk to each other at Abbey or was the Pam Speed letter just a standard letter that gets sent out
