I bought a wedding dress for £1400 it was raw silk, i took it to silver city dry cleaners and they have ruined my dress! i am so upset that my lovely dress is only fit for the bin.
I took my dress back to the shop to put it next to the one in the shop, the one in the shop has been dry cleaned 3 times and looks brand new my dress has turned yellow the silk has been burnt, you can tell its been in a washing machine, all the man at the dry cleaners said was "well your not going to wear it again are you" beside the point and because ive signed a disclosure i dont stand a chance. cant anyone help.

What do you mean by "I have signed a disclosure"?
Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.
Ok, need to check a couple of things. Are they the ones in Aberdeen? Secondly, was there anything specific about the dress that made them ask you to sign the disclaimer? I mean, was the dress an antique one, or a specific fabric they looked at and said "ooh, I don't think we can do anythign about it, but we'll give it a try if you really want us to"? and can you post the exact content of the disclaimer on here, or if too long, scan it and upload it? We need to know what it says, precisely.
PS: I'm going to ask one of the site team to move your posts and answers to you to their own thread so your issue doesn't get confused with other people's.

yes they are in aberdeen, and i never got a copy of the disclaimer. they never said they could't do it, and no it was't antique, it was raw silk and they said they do lots of them kinds of dresses.
Ok, you need a copy of the disclaimer. Their website doesn't list any kind of T&Cs so you need to go back to them and tell them you want a copy of the disclaimer they made you sign and a copy of their T&Cs. if they get funny about it, tell them that if they won't let you have those, then your next step will be Trading Standards.
I think that you have probably good grounds to pursue them, their website goes on about they specialise in wedding dresses and silk stuff etc so I should think that the disclaimer will be worth less than the paper it is printed on, but we really need to know how it is worded first.

1 did you read the contract before signing?
2 do you have a copy of the disclaimer?
3 did you ask about it at all and if so what did they say?
cheers
