Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I'm currently going through a VT through Welcome Car Finance, So far have only posted them the VT form to get the ball rolling.
The question im trying to get answered.... As i will be losing the car, im planning on purchasing a cheap banger to get me from A to B, im hoping to get this next week or so, but its likely i will still have the HP car for a few weeks yet, Is it still my responsibilty to keep the HP insured after they have recieved the initial VT letter? or it that my job until they remove the car from me?
If you keep the car on a public road (or will still use the car) then you obviously must insure it.
Until it is collected by Welcome it is still your responsibility to keep it safe and in good order. This means that if the car were to be stolen or damaged before it is collected then this will affect your ability to go through with the termination.
I suppose the cost of having insurance for just a couple of weeks may be worth it should the worst happen - you can get short term policies that would servce this purpose, or if you explained the situation to your current insurers they may well cover both on the same policy for a short period of time - I was able to do this myself a few years back when the delivery of a new car crossed by a few weeks with the disposal of the old one.
