    Unhappy request for bank statments

    i requested my statements for the past 6 yrsicon, i recived them but 2 years are missing and the bank says they have no record of thesse which is impossible as the account was active

    Which ones are missing - just the earliest or some from the middle of what they sent you?

    Halifax joint a/c (£3800 charges + £40 interest on charges over 11 years) - paid in full 23/06/06
    Halifax joint a/c new charges £1100 - LBA sent 02/08/06
    Halifax 2nd a/c (£1500 charges + £150 interest on charges) - partial payment received 13/07/06 (no s69 interest) - AQ filed 07/08/06 - Court awarded 50% of s69 interest (Bank didn't turn up!)
    Halifax Visa (#1) Data Protection Act sent - statements arrived - £350 so far
     Halifax Visa (#2) Data Protection Act sent - refunded £170

    They must be very careless then! They must also be breaking financial rules about the keeping of accurate records. Not sure what to suggest at the moment, other than starting off a prelim letter using the figures that you have available for now.

    If they have genuinly lost the statements for a two year period dont be too harsh on them.... (NOT). Take the worst month from the information which they have provided and multiply it by 24 to arrive at the amount they owe you (dont forget the intrest) You know iot isnt going to go to court under any circumstances as they have broken the law on many more counts then normal (!) so take advantage(god knows they have been doing it to you in charges...Good luck!

    I would be inclined to send them a letter before actionicon that you will report them to the Information Commissioners Office. You will find this in the Bank templates libraryicon. Start a thread in the Halifaxicon forum where you might get further information and advice from other Halifax customers.
