Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
A friend bought an Indesit washer dryer from Tescos. It was delivered and she put a load of washing in.
The washing machine was obviously faulty as the load of clothes were ruined due to being boiled. My friend called in the Indesit repairman who said that the washing machine was beyond repair, it was faulty and that she could have a refund.
What should she do about the load of washing that was ruined. Would she claim compensation from Indesit or Tescos or should she just claim on her household insurance?
Any help and advice is offered in good faith, based solely on my own knowledge and on experience gathered from this site. I am not qualified to offer legal or financial advice, which you should seek from an expert before making any important decisions. My opinions are therefore offered without liability.
Also make sure she keeps all the ruined clothes as proof juuuust in case they play silly buggers... ;-) but yes, why should she have increased premiums for the next x years on her home insurance? Claim against Tesco's would be my advice too.
Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.
