Default Washing machine ruined clothes who is liable?

Ok, hope you can help here.

A friend bought an Indesit washer dryer from Tescos. It was delivered and she put a load of washing in.

The washing machine was obviously faulty as the load of clothes were ruined due to being boiled. My friend called in the Indesit repairman who said that the washing machine was beyond repair, it was faulty and that she could have a refund.

What should she do about the load of washing that was ruined. Would she claim compensation from Indesit or Tescos or should she just claim on her household insuranceicon?

    Anyone help?

    Hi Monx,

    Sorry, this was overlooked before.

YF bought the machine from Tesco so the contract is with them.

Did YF get a refund or a replacement from Tesco.

YF should write to Tesco to explain briefly what happened and the value of clothes that were spoiled, asking for a refund.

YF's case would be stronger if there was written confirmation of the fault and the fact that the WM was beyond repair.

Also make sure she keeps all the ruined clothes as proof juuuust in case they play silly buggers... ;-) but yes, why should she have increased premiums for the next x years on her home insuranceicon? Claim against Tesco's would be my advice too.

Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.
