Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi
My daughter has a debt to council for missing 2 months council tax last year, about £220. There has been a liability order issued. She accepts she owes the debt and is trying to pay it back. Council have passed the debt to Bristow & Sutor for collection who have increased the debt to about £500 (their charges are being challenged)
I loaned my daughter the money to clear the principle debt ie £220. The council are now saying that they cannot accept it and all payments have to go to the bailiffs. Surely this is wrong I thought that the council have to accept the money - are they correct
