    Default Dixons accidental damage

    Hi,

I have a device similar to an ipod for playing music and video. I accidentally managed to leave it in my hoodie pocket and found it after the hoodie had been through the washing machine - ah! Obviously after that its completley broken. Its about 3 years old and i bought it with a 5 year cover plan which includes accidental damage. Wanted to check here first to see how I shuold go about it as I want to make sure I get it fixed or replaced and not get screwed over. Will dixons accept such an accident as covered under their policy? I dopped it once before and the hard drive died. The fixed that fine. Ive seen some horror stories on this forum just now and these confirmed that its a little hit and miss with these claims. If I tell the how this happened as it really did (as above) by accident will they fix/replace the unit?

    Thanks
    JF

Be careful. We had a camera from them which had 5 years cover. Small child got it wet with a drink and it stopped working. Found the hard way that water damage was excluded...

    Check the policy first.

Check the policy is the only real way - and it's the one you signed up to, they may have changed it before/after to change what's covered.

I personally can't see how it wouldnt be covered, but it depends on your paperwork.

If it's a 5 year coverplan bought instore, then Yes you're covered. I started work with Dixons approx 3 years ago and I remember the Coverplan catering for liquid spills and mishaps.
Take it to a Currys.Digital/Currys Superstore and they'll sort it for you. Water, coffee, curry sauce...liquid damage is covered. The only thing a MP3/MP4 Coverplan doesn't cater for is for theft. The maximum you'll wait for a repair is six weeks (unlikely as this is a small item) but if any longer then the store will give you a new one of equivalent spec. Most of the time, the device is replaced within 14 days or less.
