Default hello...new member.. staring a ppi battle..

    Hello all..
I'm a previous computer phobe this is the first time I've posted anything on a website ever...

I have recently been overhauling all my husbands paperwork and discovered PPIicon on his statements from barclay card (Visa and Mastercard) they are charged as monthly premiums as a percentage of the monthly credit balance. I've had a good read of the various listings on this website...so interesting thanks... and think I may have a case. He has had these cards he believes for up to 12 years. If I send a SARicon's to Barclaysicon will I be able to request statements going back that far? Also if I claim a mis-sold PPI (he is and has always been self employed, doesn't recall being asked if he wanted this policy and didn't even realise he had it, it's in small writing on the statement) can I claim a refund going back as far as 12 years? Is there a cut off time?

I'm thinking the first step is to send a SARicon's requesting information for the whole history of the credit card using one of the templates I've found on this website. Is this correct?

I must say I feel a bit worried like I'm disturbing a hornets nest.

Thanks for whoever has taken time to read this

    Hi Kittydrum

Welcome to the PPIicon forum, you'll receive lots of help and support on here

Firstly, yes you are within your rights to request information on ALL accounts both live and closed going back 12 years from Barclaysicon. They will possibly kick up a fuss, but please be persistent with them. Worked for me ...

Secondly, if your husband had PPI added to the cards without his knowledge or consent, and withouut going through whether the product suited his needs as a self-employed person, together with the exclusion clauses, then yes, in my opinion he is a victim of mis-selling. I also believe that in such a case, we could say that the lender has taken advantage of his lack of knowledge which is very shoddy business practice to say the least.

Yes, send the SARicon requesting the Application Form, a true copy of the Credit Agreement as signed by uour husband, the Terms & Conditions of the card including those relating to the PPI element and any exclusion clauses within, a copy of any documentation (ie a Demands and Needs Statement) to show that Barclays went through the suitability of the product for your husband's status as a self-employed person and evidence to show that Barclays asked if he had any other insurance cover. This plus copies of ALL statements to date on the card account to include PPI payments and interesticon attached.

It's not you who should be worried ... it's Barclays
