    Default Parking in Bexley

Bexley council have persisted with a parking fineicon due to the ticket ending up face down on the dashboard even though i have subsequently proved to them that i had a valid ticket for the time the car was parked. i think this is grossly unfair and that bexley council are more interested in making money than being fair to the public.

Unfortunately it is your reponsibility to ensure the ticket is correctly displayed. Adjudications on the issue are variable but generally negative i am told.

To my mind, our honesty should not be doubted but that's the way they work.

Really need to see the pcnicon and pics of signs and road markings if you are serious about fighting this

i know it is my responsibility to ensure that the p+d ticket is correctly diplayed but i think any reasonable council would waive the fine having proven to them that a valid ticket was puchased.

No offence mate but you post but you don't read.

on street or off street and will you be able to show the pcnicon and pics of signage, etc. ?

I already know what Councils are like thanks but if you want to make some progress - drop the emotive stuff (albeit understandable).

Producing a valid ticket AFTER getting a pcnicon is not always proof that you paid and displayed. If the ticket details are not visible it would be hard to prove the ticket you later produced was the same one and not obtained later from another driver.
Even if it was your ticket and valid, once the initial PCN has been issued you will not get another PCN for overstaying. Therefore the Council does not know if you returned whilst the P&D was still valid or didn't return see the PCN and then decide to remain the rest of the day without further payment.

Yep, a perfectly logical explanation for the issue of a PCN. OP will love you! LOL.

Problem is you say "the Council does not know if ---" They do now! He has told them: Made a statement to cite his innocence.

Quite how Councils feel able to judge people as being dishonest and impose penalties without any proof whatsoever of wrongdoing is beyond me.

This is why people get so vexed. It is completely understandable that people feel very strongly when their honesty is called into question.

    - and for Councils to do that?????? IME put these words together - kettle pot black calling the!

In reality they do not need to believe him either way since the contravention is not displaying valid ticket. The OP admits to this and is looking for sympathy from the Council not a view on his innocence since they both agree the contravention did take place.

Surely the council should be using their discretion on this. This isn't about sympathy but rather presumption of innocence. The OP has made a statement about the circumstances and has a P&D ticket to show for it. I would suggest that he has not attempted to defraud the system. To make the OP bear a penalty because of the actions of others (who act in the way you describe) is totally unjust and in my view prejudicial.

And if you're going to come back and say that it is the law - then in this case clearly the law is an ass. If they insist on him paying then IMV this clearly demonstates that they are more interested in revenue than treating people fairly.
