Alliance and Leicster change my fixed payment to min
Hi
I've been paying £400 off a month on my credit card as I want to clear the balance ASAP without incurring large amounts of interest.
I've had this set up for 7 months or so. I've always had the money go through without problem.
A couple of days ago I received a letter from A+L saying they were reviewing people's accounts. In order to prevent people incurring default charges and such like they were changing my DD back to min payment. How dare they do this without my permission. I want to pay them.
This is unbelivable. I have the money to pay them. They are hoping I just keep on paying min amount and end up paying large interest amounts.
I repeat. I have never missed a payment. I've always had the money clear from my bank.
How do I make a formal complaint that causes them maximum impact?

Hi,
Just write to their complaints dept at the registered office, and while you are waiting for a reply, cancel the direct debit and tell them you will be paying by standing order. That way you can control what you pay.
Legally they cannot stop you from offering payment in this way, but they may say that they do not accept this payment method, so you will have to be persistant.
