Hi all,

As per the title really - wondering if anyone knows of any insurance companies that will:

- Accept named driver time as some form of NCD; and/or

- Only check the last 3 years rather than 5 for claims

Both would be preferable!

Mossy, perhaps a question for you...?

Thanks in advance!

BIG problem here Mr. Shed. I have been on Motability insurance for 31/2yrs and had 1claim. Wife has driven for 43yrs without any incidents watsoever, yet no one will acknowledge her unblemished record. She had her own car for a while, but that was more than 5yrs ago. Im'e a retired high milage driver, and have had two claims in 15yrs, but because of little or no recent NCD the best quote i can get is well over £300.

Insurance companies make Al Capone look like a choir boy. They are all as bad as each other, cherry picking what they consider to be the lowest risk. If you find anyone who will give a named driver a NCD, then please tell me. Thanks.

Thanks Guys & Galls, but I think that those firms offering NCB for named drivers will only take into account recent history----pity about the past 30+years. Just away to try Tesco again, but they were uncompetitive the last time I tried them.

Hi Wulfin, have tried Tesco & Privlige and they returned the highest quotes to date. This does not surprise me, as, try as i may, i can't deal with RBS for any financial products because i find them totally uncompetitive at every turn. Thanks anyway.

Yes Mr. Shed, Insurance premiums seem to fluctuate quite a lot--depends on who needs more business. Last time house insurance was due, we searched a lot, and Tesco was by far the best last year. You should have seen the patronising letter i got back from the ABI--looked like it had been written by Govt. Dept. It said a lot, but didn't tell me anything. Getting increasingly P----d off with people telling me what they can't do instead what they can do. Britain 2008!!

Update. The Association of British Insurers put me on to an outfit called BIBA, who were supposed to have specialist insurers on their books, some of whom cater for drivers with many years experiece. Needless to say, no joy here either. I got so frustrated by the cowboys and whankers on the internet that I started phoning round---BINGO--car is now insured, or rather overinsured, at a realistic price, by??? SAGA.

I would really appreciate all the support I can get in bringing this disgraceful situation into the public domain, to hopefully get proper recognition for those with long term clean records, irrespective of named drivers or policyholders.

try: Cheap UK Car insurance and home insurance quotes comparison from Confused.com. or Cheap loans | mortgages | credit cards | home & car insurance - moneysupermarket.com

we saved about 40% with Elephant and they only wanted the last 3 years of claims so worked well since my wife crashed our car 4 years ago twice. I would be very well off if I could get her off my policy, lovely lady but an insurance liability.
