    Default Mortgage payment protection

    Hello,

I had a mortgageicon for 5 years(2003-2008) with Cumberland building society, and was sold payment protection (Norwich Union). Without being told that i could look for my own insurance.
Only found out I didn't need or could find my own protection when i moved to Barclaysicon in june.

I was also told that i would be covered after and including the first 4 weeks unable to work.

I found out after being off for just over 4 weeks that i would only receive payment of a monthly % for each day i was unable to work after the 1st month. which wasn't worth claming!

Would I be eligible to caim back my payments. As I feel i was miss sold.

    Thankyou, John

    Default Re: Mortgage payment protection

    Hello cragger,

Welcome to the PPIicon forum this is relatively new territory on reclaiming but people are very willing to help and we are learning day by day how to reclaim mis-sold PPI which has been mis-sold on a huge scale.

The financial institutions know this and are using lots of tactics to put people off claiming and on the defensive but we have the regulatory authorities on our side.

My opinion is yes but I will post a few links for you and some advice and you can then decide for yourself.
    Thankyou, John

This is a little snippet from the above link....

Can I reclaim on any PPI policy?
Your claim for compensation is dependent on when you took the insurance. PPI sales only came under the jurisdiction of the FSA on 14 January 2005. Any sales made before then are not covered by the latest rules.
However, it may still be worth complaining to your lender if you feel you have been mis-sold. If you bought before January 2005 it is likely that they will have been covered by a previous regime of rules. This means that the Financial Ombudsmanicon Service will be able to consider these complaints. If you took PPI after January 2005, your claim is subject to the latest rules.

The above taken from this link in the stickies at the top of the forum...
    links

It is a long Post but there is a lot of invaluable information in there.

My advice would be to read the stickies and then a few threads that may match your own circumstances. You will be surprised at what you will pick up. In My Opinion it is better to be forearmed before you take up the cudgels for a fight. The more info you have the better. You may have a fight to get the info but if you have to end up in a Court action you will need to be well prepared.

I do not believe there is a quick solution to the PPI issue at the moment and each case differs from the next. However you will get help on this forum from a goodly body of caggers.
