Default Work Rota and Leave Questions.

I am now back at my old job but am still having problems.

The manager has said I will work whenever he wants me too, and will enter into no discussion on the rota's. Is there anything i can do about that?

Secondly, I want to take a month off work but I know they wont let me. I dont care if its unpaid, is there anything i can do to force them to let me have a month off and then come back afterwards?

    Thanks

    John

Are you being treated differently in this respect regarding the rota to other members of staff? What does it say in your contract?

My contract states nothing about what hours I am to do, only that I am to do a minimum of 30. I am being given mostly late nights and every saturday/sunday which is different to other members of staff.

What is the nature of the role/job sector? Do other members of staff have any say in their rotas?

Retail, and until I filed a grievanceicon against the manager rotas were easily discussed, but now its" you'll work when I want you to work"

Yes I thought you might say retail actually...I had a not dis similar situation myself once. It isnt a certain shop where "every little helps" by any chance is it?

With regards the question I must admit I dont know the definite answer. I would imagine that it depends upon your contract, and your contract does allow for this.

Can I ask the nature of the greivance?

Every little does not help in this case, the goods we sell are...more technologic and expensive, and travel far from Japan.

    The grievanceicon is here:

A good result from that grievanceicon actually, well done! Just as a little side note.

However, I would be sorely tempted to take out another one on the basis of what you are saying - it is unreasonable of them to treat you differently to other members of staff.
