On Monday night I was (for the second time in 6 weeks) the victim of an armed robbery in the store I work in. I feel let down by the international corporation I work for because they did not protect me from this.
All that aside, basically I am too scared to go back to work. I am not ready to face the constant wondering of who is in the store, what are they doing etc. What I'm wondering is, does my employer have to pay me for the shifts I am missing? I will go back, when I am ready because I like & need my job. This time my employer has taken the situation seriously and by next week we will have 4 new security measures in place.
Any advice would be much appreciated. I have spoken to my union who advised me to get a sick note from my doctor so I can at the very least get sick pay. I have been working for the company for over a year and am contracted to do 15 hours per week.
