Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Got a letter through today from a Company Called Excel Parking in Sheffield. basically stating that i didn't have a valid parking ticket. the letter included photos showing when i entered and when i exited the Car park. Problem i have is that i did pay and was displaying and still have the ticket (don't clean my car very often) but when i looked at it i have input the incorrect Reg Number. The first 4 from my new car and the last 3 from my old, honest mistake but i still have a £60 fine.
My options are contact them and try and get this sorted as it was an honest mistake or go to the place where you pay for Council given parking ticket to get some advice.

What do you think

No - those are NOT your options.
sorry, but I actually find it highly amusing that you think the Council will give you 'advice'!
Read any of the endless threads on here that refer to private tickets.
Private companies have no powers to fine people - you just have a 99% unenforceable invoice.
Legally they're entitled to get back their losses, not fine you.
In your case, as you have purchased a ticket, I would send them a photocopy of your ticket with a covering letter saying
"Dear Sir
Regarding parking charge number 12345, please find enclosed a copy of the ticket which was paid for at the time. I trust the matter is now closed.
Regards"
Don't put a name or address. You're just demonstrating to them that they're wasting their time continuing.
Chances are they will ignore you and send you further bits of threatening paperwork. In that case, just completely ignore them and do not contact them. They will eventually go away.
Another option is to completely ignore them and their junk mail from the get go.
