Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
Hi guys
I have just been issued with a parking ticket after I parked my car on an unmarked road side at a University campus. I had my staff parking disc displayed on the windscreen.
The parking ticket stated that the offence committed was: Parked in an unathorised or restricted area.
I don't understand how a roadside with no yellow lines can be a prohibited place to park. The road that I parked goes to staff residence and there is a notice which states that parking is reserved for resident staff. I did not park in the parking area for the residence, which I think I did not break any law.
I would like to appeal. Can you please advice if I've got any grounds.

You're right, you didn't break any law, as they cannot invent any "law" on private land for you to break.
No point in appealing, it will be rejected.
The grounds you have are to ignore their made up invoice charge.
• do not pay
• do not contact them
• ignore any letters you receive, no matter how threatening
• they will go away after 4 or 5
Thanks for the response.
My fear is won't I get bailiffs knocking on my door six months down the line.
Also the other thing; do I need to take a photography of the place that I was parked. This will possibly help to save my back, if they decide to drag me to court.
I forgot to mention that the parking ticket was issued by a private company. Behind the ticket it states that I can make a payment online to: The Car Parking Partnership. I assume this is the organisation managing the University grounds parking.
IGNORE: a quick google search shows the 'Car Parking Partnership' is a trading name of:
Name & Registered Office: LIBERTY PRINTERS (AR AND RF REDDIN) LIMITED
WILLETT ROAD
THORNTON HEATH
CROYDON
CR7 6AA
Company No. 02920033 Company Type: Private Limited Company Nature of Business (SIC(03)):
2222 - Printing not elsewhere classified
URL for the 'Car Parking Partnership' is: carparkingpartnership
Which does nothing more than to provide a link to pay them!? (I'm not supprised) - DO NOT PAY
A private company that prints tickets (one susspects), who it now appears, have jumped on the lucrative band waggon of issuing invoices - lol

A bailiff would have to have gone to court and you would have had to have lost and then still refused to pay.
A debt collection agency is just a private company like any other. Like any member of the public they can knock on your door and ask for some money. Chances are miniscule (it's a waste of petrol just on the off chance you were in).
If they were ever silly enough to knock on your door, either tell them to get lost, don't answer or invite them in for a cup of tea. Either way they can't do a thing. They can't take good and they can't make you hand over any money.
