    Default cpn 40 days old!

    Hi to you all
I have been sent a pcnicon, issued 40 day's after the alleged parking violation. I cant remember the incident or who was driving the vehicle at the time. The Vehicle in question is a hire vehicle and I am aware that the hire company may be billed if I dont cough up, and any extra charges passed on to me. Shouldn't a notice be placed on a vehicle warning the owner of intended fine? I'm at my wits end and dont know what to do.

Although I think the pcnicon (if it's a real one) should normally be issued in 14 days, because it was a hire car I believe a greater time span is allowed. So I dont think the 40 dyas bit will help you on this one.

Can you confirm if it is a council/police PCN or a PPC private car park ticket. If the latter your main problem at the moment will be to make sure the hire company don't pay it on your behalf then charge it on to you (no doubt adding a further "adminicon" charge on to it for good measure)

It's a private PCN from a retail park, it's been issued by a company called anpr international, using cctv. But the person driving cant be seen, this car park I have used many times and as far as I was aware the time limit has always been 3 hours and patrolled by a warden! I have been back to site and there are warning signs displayed.

I think no one responded to your original thread (why two anyway?) because of the misleading title. 'Controlled parking zone' is a term used in decriminalised parking enforcement by Local Authorities.

Nothing to do with what you've got. It might even be a legally protected term so if they've used it they could get in trouble.

you have a private ticket and standard advice is to ignore it. they will give up after 5/6 letters that will become increasingly threatening and talk rubbish.

it's a [problem]. read the info on private tickets. (personally i disagree with the advice to write to them) read any other of the inumerable threads on here about private tickets.

Thank's to all for your help. I will write to the hire company and let them know the fine is in dispute and not to pay up. My only concern is that they threaten court action and it does state "controlled parking zone".
BTW I tried to delete the first post as I felt it was inaccurate, but couldn't.
    Apologies and thank's once again.
    Brian.

Hmmm. I don't get involved in enough of these to know what standard procedure is for ANPR. I know some ppc experts who can predict exactly what the ppc will send next. They would also know if ANPR Intl have ever taken anyone to court.

If you've read the various threads you'll see that the chances of any ppc taking you to court are extremely remote - and then they have to win of course - unlikely.

couldn't find out if cpz is a protected term. As an example 'Penalty Charge Notice' can only be used by Councils for Civil Parking Enforcement i'm told.

That's why ppcs often call them something like 'parking chargeicon Notice' - same initials to mislead.

It being a hire car can be awkward. Make sure the hire Co don't go paying and adding yet a further adminicon charge. Check the terms and conditionsicon of the hire.

BTW - they all, always threaten court action - then still give up if you ignore them for a few letters.

Thank you for all the help Ting, I shall contact the hire company (though the car has been returned to them a month ago) asap.
    Kind regards
    Brian
