NCP Railway Station PCCN when using FastPark service
Hi all, I've been reading around on this site and have found some excellent advice but nothing relating specifically to my situation.
I recently travelled to Brussels on business and left my car parked in the St. Neots Railway Station in Cambridgeshire. For reasons of convienience I prefer to use the NCP FastPark service which allows me to call up their automated service, enter the car parks 4 digit ID (normally clearly displayed on the car parking charges sign) and pay for how many nights parking I require.
I arrived at the railway station car park and searched around for the 4 digit car park code but couldn't find it on any of the signs or printed anywhere else. I therefore asked at the ticket kiosk and the guy who works there gave me the code.
I called the automated number which recognised my mobile number and therefore my cars' registration, I then entered the 4 didgit number given to me by the guy in the kiosk and went to get my train. The automated service only gives you confirmation of the car park ID - it doesn't resolve it to a location name and then ask you to confirm it.
On my return 4 nights later I found 2 NCP Parking Contravention Notices attached to my windscreen in a yellow and black seal. Both charges are £25 or £50 if not paid within 14 days. It turns out the ID I was given by the railway station employee was incorrect and I was charged parking for a different car park.
My question is do I have a valid claim to dispute these charges? No where was the sites FastPark ID printed on any of the NCP car parking charges signs and having asked for it I was given an incorrect code. NCP Limited Ntwrk Rail CARDIFF CENTR. have taken payment for parking (I can see this on my bank statement) on another site, so they are not out of pocket as a result of me not paying at all.
The ticket mentions notice of breach of rail byelaws. Is this the case? I have paid but not for the correct location, can I get this refunded if I have to pay the tickets?
