Default Rejecting new car - anything else I need to do?

    Hi all

Just come across this forum and thought I should register as am not sure whether I have done what is needed in rejecting a car.

Bought a Jeep brand new in September last year and have had a catalogue of faults which has been dealt with by three diferent dealers and now has a service record as long as my arm. Finally gotten to the point that this car is just substandard quality and went to the purchasing dealer to say enough is enough. Got a call from the MD that night to say if I wanted to reject the vehicle then send them a letter which would then be passed to Jeep head office to deal with. That I have done as well as sending a copy to Jeep Finance UK Ltd making them aware.

Given a deadline for a response but have now read that I should stop using the car altogether. If that is the case then should I return it to the dealer and thus, cancel the tax and insurance on it? Should I also stop repayments? Anything else I should do to make sure I have followed correct procedure?

Any advice much appreciated as I do love Jeeps but this one is a complete joke and simply don't want it anymore but do want to continue driving Jeeps.

    Thanks

Yes. If you keep on using the car, you are making your own case for rejecting the car harder should they decide to play silly buggers.

I would definitely arrange for the return of the car etc... This way, there can be no doubt that you have rejected it.

Be careful though that as you have had the car for over 1 year, your case may not be be as straighforward as if you had had it a couple of months. You say the MD phoned you, I would seek confirmation in writing of this conversation ASAP.

It looks as if they may play ball and do the right thing, but better be safe than sorry.

Apologies to people who I was in the process of helping, I may be gone some time.

Is the dealer part of the Jeep makers group; It is really nothing to do with the manufacturer; its you and the supplier i.e.the dealer that sold you the car, and they are usually independant self running company. any recourse or reimbursement shold come from the dealer; it would be up tomthe dealer to get his money back from the maker. it sonds like he is hedging his bets and going to use the maker as the arbiter in this.
Defo dont use it once rejected, take it back back to dealer. Reject in writing saying why, time line etc. not fit fit purpose, failty, unsafe etc. and ask fot full refund under SOGAicon etc. and give them 7 days to repond. copy to hp co.
cancel payments to HP as they are responsible too to ensure that it is of merchantable quality and it is not so contract is broken.
if they wont then you may have to go to court for reibursement of monies paid and cancellation of HP contract.
