    Default Barclays Premier card

Hi, first post so apologies if this has been answered before but any help would be much appreciated...

I did a balance transfer onto my Barclaysicon Premier card from another card. On trying to then transfer that into my current account (also with Barclays), Barclaycard stated that this was not possible but that I could take a cash advance upfront - however, I would be charged a fee plus 36% interesticon for doing so, even when my card was in credit. Having had several increasingly angry calls with them, I was then accused of making transactions that bordered on money laundering (great customer service, eh?) even though I have banked with Barclays for 15 years. When I then asked what would happen if I closed the card, the basic answer was that the credit would be frozen until Barclaycard deemed fit to decide what they would do - which no one could give me an idea of when that would be.

Any suggestions as to how to treat this lot and / or what are my rights would be much appreciated.

Hi Josh and welcome to CAGicon.

Am I missing something here. If you were trying to transfer funds into the current a/c from your BC, then why wouldn't it be treated as a cash withdrawal from BC.

Don't rush to close the BC a/c. It's far easier to make another xfer to clear the BB card from another card, and THEN close the BC a/c.

If you close it without it being paid off, they'll pass it straight over for collection action.
