Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I have just noticed from my bank statements with Barclays that I am paying an overdraft payment protection.
I have spoken to the bank and asked for the application form for this PPI as I am almost certain that I never asked for it. At this point,no one can supply me with anything and they have said that I would of agreed to this on the telephone.
I have gone through all my statements and it seems I have been paying for this since 1999.
My question is,can I claim this back and if so,can I claim it back to 1999?
Also, which letter will I have to send if I can claim it back.
I am really confused!!
On a seperate level, coincidently,I had a telephone call this morning from a company called Ratiomoney. They asked me a pile of questions, about any loans I might have and are still active. I have an active loan of 25,000 secured and according to ratiomoney,it may of been mis-sold and be un enforcable and therefore written off. Whilst I would love that to be the case,it all sounds abit too good to be true. I asked the guy to put some info in the post to me.
Your advice and information on all of this would be received gratefully.
Thanks in advance.
First, Ratiomoney is a business. Beware of anonymous callers wanting to sell you anything over the phone.
Are you sure it is Payment Protection Insurance? If you took out a loan from Barclays, it would be a good idea to request the credit agreement from them.
I hope you are not refering to monthly account fees. Barclays charge monthly account fees for providing you a bundle of their services like overdraft, travel insurance, free legal advice, etc. You may not be using the services but you maybe paying for them.
Check the information on your bank statement and make sure you agree with the content. If you do not agree with the content, you can discontinue the bundle of services. But be warned that the bundle may include an authorised overdraft limit and if you discontinue the bundle, they will take away your authorised limit.
