Default Lloyds TSB PPI - can we still make a claim?

OH had a loan from Lloydsicon TSB in Sept 1996 he was self employed at the time but was forced to have PPIicon as a condition of the loan...although he could never claim on it.

Anyway to cut a long story short he ran out of work and started paying reduced payments. The debt was passed to DCAicon's then sold to 1st crediticon who are threatning to now make him bankrupt etc...

Can he make a claim for being miss-sold the PPI even though it was in 1996?

They are still chaseing him for the money.

    Many thanks.

Hello and welcome to the ppi forum,

Can you answer dx questions and give us a bit more info, There are quite a few things that can be established if we have more info.

Companies and dca's have to follow consumer legislation to enforce outstanding monies on accounts and even back in 1996, they still had to follow it. So there maybe a few things that you can do check.

If they mis-sold ppi back in 1996, and they are still chasing your oh, then reclaim it back. Turn the tables on them and you start chasing them

As I have said, if you can tell us the whole story, we maybe able to assist you

If any of my posts are helpful, please feel free to click my scales. All information is given as my opinion only, based on my own personal experiences. I have no legal training, but have educated myself in aspects of consumer legislation. My motto "NEVER GIVE IN, NEVER SURRENDER", THERE IS A WAR ON YOU KNOW

I'm pretty sure we made some payments in approx 2004 so I doubt it will be statute barred... although I will check the last payment date cause i'm not 100% sure.

I've recently sent 1st crediticon a CCA request their time is up on that, but they haven't sent CCA they did send a letter saying they were assigned the debt and that they will apply to TSB for the CCA, but that it may take several weeks.

I sent a SARN request in 2004 to BLS who were collecting it before 1st credit but they just sent a few computer printouts with amounts owed/paid etc but no application form or CCA to see how much PPIicon was on it.

OH just remembers that he had to have it although he would never be able to make a claim because of him being self-employed.

I will have to dig out more details and put them on here.

I wasn't sure if there was a time limit on claiming against them.

    Many thanks
