Help. £80 penalty for not notifying DVLA of a SORN when I did send the form in.

I sent in the SORN notice for my vehicle in April. I have heard nothing back until I got a £80 penalty notice which I can appeal. Any ideas on how to appeal successfully?

Im sorry but I dont understand what you sent to them, I thought you decalired your SORN at the post office, they give you a receipt and that lasts for a year. I didnt realise you could send anything back to them.
