    Default council land parking ticket

    Hi all,
we had a little quite day off yesterday and decided to take the dog for a nice walk on the deserted beach in our home town.

We went to the deserted car park, parked up and let the little devil go run for an hour or so, however when we got back we had a parking ticketicon issued by our fabulous money obbsessed council. (no wonder our town is dying on its feat).

It would appear that there is a sneaky pay&display box at the back of the car park and we just didnt see it so with us being the only car in the place, these pessky devil saw a chance to justify their wages. nice one.

Anyhow, I was wondering if anybody knew what type of authority the council would need to show me in order to show me they are within their rights to do such a thing?

I know at one time the car park was not coucnil run, so is there perhaps some documentation I could request (just to **** the off more than anything) for them to prove they are allowedto do this?

Anyhow, hope your all weel, keep up the good work on this site

We need to establish if it is a council ticket or a private one. Council one will have the name of the council and should have details of the act they are issued under (Traffic Management Act 2004 or Road Traffic Regulation 1984)

For a council car park - details and the rules for them should be detailed in a Traffic Regulation Order. These are public documents that should be on display in the Council Offices, they may also have details in electronic form.

Councils sometimes the wording wrong so if you can post a scanned picture of both sides of the ticket, with your details and any identifiying information removed, it can be checked for validity.
