Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
The name "Civil Enforcement Ltd" seems to appear in all sorts of complaints on the internet. I parked and paid correctly at Red Funnel's Triangle Car Park in Southampton but Civil Enforcement didn't take payment properly and issued me with a penalty notice. I paid the £75 fine and wrote to them, including a letter from my bank and mobile phone company - you can't pay in the car park with cash (very helpful if you don't ave a mobile phone...). They wrote back saying the penalty notice had been cancelled but still cashed the £75 cheque and now say I owe £150!!
I've called the number given and the holding company in Nottingham but they clearly don't want to talk to customers as all options on the call centre menu go in a loop or to an answerphone and nobody calls back.
Does anyone have a direct phone number for one of the Directors?
I agree with Al. Take them to court. You'll definitely win.
These scoundrels rely on an unwitting public being unfamiliar with the law. If you threaten them with court action and let them know you mean business, they will take you seriously.
Please keep us posted on developments! Go on you can do it we're all rooting for you!
