Hi,
I was wondering whether anyone would be able to help me with a penalty charge notice that i received in a Rugby council car park. the car park i was parking in was full. other vehicles had made their own parking spaces so i decided to follow suit. i bought a ticket and displayed it properly in my car. I came out of the shop i was in to find a traffic warden giving me a penalty charge notice for parking beyond the bay markings. I told the traffic warden why i had parked where i had and that other people had done the same. I pointed out atleast two other cars that were parked beyond the bay markings. the traffic warden said that they would be dealt with. Because i had recieved my notice i decided to complete my shopping. I came back 20 minutes later to find that i was the only car that got done for parking beyond the bay markings. i took pictures of the other car that was parked beyond the bay markings. i have since emailed parking appeals three times with my case but they are having none of it. They are saying that the traffic warden has no recculection of my saying about the other cars and they are unable to discuss any other vehicles that were parked beyond the bay markings. They say that if i want to appeal now i have to wait for the 28 day period to exspire and to appeal again to get an independant adjudicator to look at my case. Do you think its worth it to miss out on the discounted penalty and appeal or do i not really have a leg to stand on.
As Ting said it matters not what happened to other cars, if they got a ticket that's up to them to sort out, if they didn't it doesn't excuse the fact that YOU parked outside of marked bays and as you called it 'made your own parking space'
Car parks are usually marked out to allow the maximum number of parked cars to be there whilst still allowing enough room to manoeuvre around the car park, what you did was inconsiderate and hopefully this ticket will stop you doing it again.
