Hiya

I wonder what I can do.

I don't want to get my bf into trouble, I am here to be cared for each day as I am disabled and quite poorly. I sometimes have letters sent here too so I am assuming they have fished one out of a bin and that is why they have sent me a Section 46 notice or something. Improper use of bins? It sounds quite confusing what you can and cannot put in these things. I don't have the problem at my flat as it is communal.

They say they have warned me but my bf never said anything about it and I have not had a letter previously to this address about it. I have my own flat I cannot afford to be paying £100 fines if my bf makes a mistake or the little boy does about what they put in the bin.

Any ideas about what I can do?

God bless

Dawn

No I aren't quite sure hon, something about wrong stuff in recycle bin, but I don't even live here but I thought they were supposed to let him know he was doing it wrong before serving notice? Actually they shouldnt really be serving it on me either I don't think. You can't put letters in normal bin either? wow, this is complicated :O

Hi Whitby,

I work for my local authoritys recycling department, and i have to admit, we certainly dont do anything like this where i live. ( not yet anyway ). We usually just leave a printed note informing the householder what we do and dont collect as part of our recycling collection.

I know of a lot of councils where they do actually have "snoops", spotchecking certain bins but normally they will knock and inform you as a sort of warning. I have had instances where sharp implements ( bread knives) have been sticking out the side of carrier bags that have otherwise contained tin cans.

Contact your local council recycling department and ask them to explain whats wrong. ( you may need to get you b/f to do this if the address is in his name ).

Please let us know what happens, ok.

Please note that although my advice is offered, you should consult your legal representative before taking ANY action.

have a nice day !!

Thank you

Well my bf sorted out all the stuff according to what it said on the letter. Seems that plastic bags are not wanted according to the letter, which had been going in, maybe that is what it was.

It certainly would have been nice if they had let him know via something on the bin or a letter prior to the threat.

I am sure there must have been snoops, all smacks of Big Brother watching you. I could understand dangerous objects being a no no, would not want anyone to get hurt sorting it out. I think imposing this is bad, some people do not have the mental capacity through illness, or the energy through same to be sorting their refuse. A blanket law about recycling seems very draconian to me.

Thanks again, I will certainly let you know.

God bless
