    Default What to do?

    Hi all!

I sent off my first letter asking for repayment of my charges 13 days ago. A+L have replied with a letter telling me that they're "investigating" the matter and they'll get back to me in due course. Do I let them have more time to reply, even though I imagine they'll just then send out a stock "it's in your ts + cs" or do I go ahead and send out my second letter tomorrow? I'm not sure what to do!

Don't give them more time - they're probably just stalling you!

You set the timetable, presumably giving them 14 days. 'In due course' is not good enough.

I think you should proceed with the lbaicon IMHO

Thanks - I figured they'd probably be stalling because they're like that! I'll get my second letter sent away tomorrow!

    Calling all newbies!

These are just stock replies, and in the grand scheme of things [i.e. your claim] they mean nothing, zero, zilch.

Unless they get lucky somewhere along the line and one of their official sounding letters frightens someone off - that is money they won't have to pay out.

If you want to claim back your charges you have the right to do so. But it is your decision and you have to stand by it, and be prepared to go to court if necessary - it tends not to get this far but must be taken into consideration as a possibility before action is taken.

Read the FAQ and spend a few days reading peoples threads, it is invaluable in helping you to decide whether to go ahead (or not), and the process for doing so.

Good luck, and stick to the tried and tested tactics. 8)
