Clamped in work car park

Hi all,

A colleague has been clamped in a work car park today.

Basically last week he changed his car, but had forgotten to get the permit changed to his new reg/car. Besides this, he had also forgotten to display the permit in his windscreen.

He has paid the £125(

) to have the car unclamped, as he obviously had no choice.

Question being - can he claim this back? The car park is open air, quite "open plan". The terms and conditions icon

are tied to a couple of the lampposts, but there are no signs on entry or exit of the car park, none at the entrance to the office, and basically you would only see them if you made the conscious effort to go over and read them if that makes sense.

I do know the parking firms name, if I can post it here....?

Still not really sure - guess it depends on the signage then...?

Has anyone successfully done a chargeback on these on the basis it was under duress? IF so, whats the timescale(i.e. can the chargeback be done AFTER any appeal directly to the company was unsuccessful)?

I think you might as well look into the chargeback option straight away as I can asure you your appeal has been unsuccessful.

Has he tried getting money back from his employer, they would not want unhappy employees would they or them worrying about silly things like this. just a thought. could happen to anybody. also I would get employer to get clampers to check in the office to see if anybody has got a car in car park with no sticker before clamping, afterall they are working for them.
I got my employer to pay for my parking tickets when out on business and did not have time to move car from bay.

Well I've had nothing yet after 14 weeks since my little yellow envelope. Maybe they make enough money off the instant clamp payments at your work place plus the victims who pay the daft invoices at the reduced rate.
