    Default Driver or Owner?

I received a Civil parking chargeicon Notice to which I replied saying that they should take up the matter with the driver of the vehicle. Am I right in assuming that it is the driver of the vehicle who is responsible and not the owner?
    This is a private vehicle.
    Many thanks

Yes you are correct. Their only angle is based on the law of contract. Only the driver could have agreed to any contract at the time - as indicated on signage (normally inadequate, misleading and inaccurate).

Better not to contact them at all though. They will go away after several increasingly threatening letters.

which PPC is it. If they are BPA "Approved Operators" what they should have put in their first letter is to just ask who the driver was.

They are as they say " We are regulated by the British Parking Association". They have said that "If you
were not the driver of the vehicle please advise us in writing who was the driver at the time, using the appeals procedure refered to below"

Whjat has really got my goat is that they have clearly asked the DVLA for my details who have furnished them straight away!
They have supplied them but got my first name wrong

Maybe a "No one of that name at this address" letter could cause them even more trouble and expense trying to resolve it.

That would be interesting, although the name that they put on is my middle name!
A letter went off to them that I took from the "template" list saying "contact the driver"
