click Control Panel then Printers and other hardware and view installed printers or faxes. check the printer is ready. If it says anything else, post here and someone will help.

Double click on your printer. this will bring up the print queue for that printer.
what's displayed in the status column.
if there is no error message against any entries then:
on the menus at the top of the printer window left click on Printer a menu will drop down, about half way down there's an option called 'USE PRINTER OFFLINE' if this has a tick aginst it, then untick it. this will put the printer online again and the print queue should start again.
If that did not help, then information to post is
1. model Number of printer,
2. any lights or messages that are showing on any control panels on the printer.
3. which operating system you're using.
4. How it connects to your PC (Network/USB/Parrallel)
Print jobs do get stuck occasionally, and it might be that there is a job stuck at the top of the queue which the printer is unable to process, blocking your job and any others that came after it.
You need to right click the small icon in the lower right of your taskbar, and delete all of the jobs by right clicking and deketing them.
right guys thanks for the help i sorted it turns out daughter had tried using it on other puter and had made the old printer the default which i only discovered when someone pointed it out to me thanks locy and to all the help much appreciated xxxxkia
