Thumbs up GE Money state the OFT say charges are fair

I have had a letter from GE Money, stating that they will only refund the difference of the charges applied to my account - total £54.00 (Amount claimed is £316.50).

They say in their letter that 'The OFT ruling deemed that a fee over £12 would be presumed to be an unreasonable charge' - do I accept this £54.00, or take the next step for the full amount??

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Truck

IMO go for the full amount

When the Liberals and Conservatives were in opposition, they both agreed that banks should pay back high bank charges to customers. Nothing seems to have happened since they came into power as a coalition. PPI Insurance has been sorted. Now they should turn their attention to bank charges and help customers get exorbitant charges refunded.

The GEmoney letter as you outline here is deceptive. The OFT said that action would automatically be taken in respect of charges over £12 and that this was not intended to signal to companies that £12 was necessarliy fair.

Accept the £54 but make sure that it is clear in your letter that you are accepting it in part-payment and that you will be continuing to claim the balance

I went for the full amount, and wrote again to GE MOney, stating that I would only accept their offer as part payment (which I have NOT received anyway) - but they have not replied within the 14 days given to them.
What is my next move - is it a Court Letter??
    Thanks
    Truck

GIve me a few moments, I will go and look for one for you.

Here you go, it is for bank charges, however you can just amend to suit if needed.
