Written by John Kruse, one of the leading experts on Bailiff Law, this consumer friendly guide is essential reading for anyone who comes into contact with a bailiff.
The book is easy to understand and clearly explains the rights
a bailiff has, and also what they cannot do when collecting debts and repossessing goods etc.
I parked my car in a free supermarket car park yesterday.
The car park is divided into two sections and I parked in the area furthest away from the supermarket and NOT in a disabled bay.
I am a Blue Badge holder and I left my badge clearly visible when I left the car.
On my return I found a ticket from Excel stuck to my car, a code 80, (overstayed the time limit) by 10 minutes.
My badge was on the floor of the car and I suppose it must have fallen when I closed the car door.
I checked the sign which was way over on the other side of the car park and it said that Blue Badge holders were 'unrestricted'.
I have appealed, but I am frantic with worry as they want me to pay £60 which I can't afford.
Can they force me to pay on the technicality that my badge wasn't visible because it fell on the floor?
all irrelevant. disabled bays mean nothing in private car parks. the good news ois that this is not a parking ticket, it is an unenforceable invoice.
Ignore it (but keep it - and the follow on letters you WILL get - safe in the drawer)
do not contact them.
see the stickies here about private parking companies (PPCs).
