For failing to comply with a sign indicating a prohibited turn. Problem is the road ahead (across the junction) was blocked with traffic so I turned left. I though I had a problem with the car, the warning light was coming on and i did not want to Breakdown in the middle of the road is this a ligitimate defense?
I suspect you might have to present something in support of that "Breakdown", such as an AA callout or similar. If you simply turned left, checked the car warning light, and drove on I would be surprised if that would qualify as mitigating circumstances.
