Can anyone suggest a good parachute account,bearing in mind that they all make these charges?Also could they be in contact with each other regarding all the claims against them,therefore refusing customers who are switching?

There must be a link between the banks here, where they find the information to manipulate. Even if You can't find the information in Experian or other information services and they refuse a bank account.
I have the feeling that the English banks don't want customers. Go abroard and open a bank account in France or Belgium or even Germany, you will get a better service and less charges.
